Hello everyone! Ovacık is a small ski resort in Tunceli’s Ovacık district. It is one of the least known resorts on our list; on this page I have gathered the measured data we have.
The range we measured is 1,256–1,404 metres, a drop of 148 metres. The critical number here is the base: 1,256 metres, one of the lowest bases on our list — only Kartepe (1,249 m) is lower. That means a disadvantage for holding snow; the snow here gives in to the temperatures below more quickly.
Who It’s For
With a single lift and a 148-metre drop, this is not a full day’s ski programme. If you live in or around Tunceli, are just starting out, or want a snow day with the children, the scale suits. It stays narrow for an experienced skier.
When to Go
Because of the low base the season window is narrower than at other resorts. January–February is the most reasonable period; December and March can be risky. At this resort I would suggest looking at the measured snow depth above rather than the calendar — whether there is snow at 1,256 metres is not something to decide by guesswork.
Things to Know Before You Go
1,256 metres; snow retention is weaker than at most resorts on the list.
The scale is small; set your expectations accordingly.
