Hello everyone! Zigana sits on the historic pass road between Trabzon and Gümüşhane — so it is a resort worth stopping at if your route already goes that way. On this page I have gathered its conditions.

The range we measured is 2,049–2,186 metres, a drop of 137 metres. One of the smallest drops on our list; only Salda (110 metres) is less. In return the base is at 2,049 metres, which is high in elevation terms and an advantage for holding snow.

Who It’s For

The scale is small. The logic of choosing Zigana is being in the region already, or adding a day to a Trabzon–Gümüşhane journey. It is enough for beginners and for anyone coming for the pleasure of the snow.

When to Go

Thanks to the high elevation it holds snow well. The season runs from December to March; January–February is the most stable period.

Things to Know Before You Go

The drop is very limited.

137 metres, the second-lowest value on the list. Set your expectations accordingly.

There is no official resort site.

We looked; apart from a hotel site with a similar name there is no official source published. That is why the “Source” field above is empty.

The pass road can be demanding in winter.

The Zigana Pass is a route known for heavy snow and fog; check the road conditions.

Frequently asked questions

About Zigana

Can you go from Trabzon?
You can; the resort is on the Trabzon–Gümüşhane highway, near Torul.
Is it enough for a full day’s skiing?
With a 137-metre drop the day fills up quickly. Thinking of it as a stop added to a journey is more realistic.
Where does the snow depth information here come from?
It is the value measured by the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) at its station in the resort. New snow, the temperature difference and the snowmaking window are calculated from a model and labelled separately in the table.
