Hello everyone! Konaklı is the resort that stays in Palandöken‘s shadow but actually has an advantage of its own: it is the ski resort with the highest base in Turkey. On this page I have gathered its conditions — the figures above are live, and below I share what the figures cannot tell you.
The base we measured is 2,320 metres. For comparison: Uludağ‘s summit is 2,135 metres. In other words Konaklı’s lowest point is higher than Uludağ’s highest point. The summit is at 2,887 metres and the drop is 567 metres.
The practical meaning of this is that the season ends late here. While the snow is melting at lower-lying resorts, Konaklı can still hold it.
How to Get There
It is close to Erzurum and run by the same operator as Palandöken: Ejder3200. You can fly to Erzurum and consider both resorts; piste and lift status is published for the two on a single page, and the link is above.
Pistes and Who They’re For
Konaklı has a wider and less steep profile than Palandöken. This is where beginners and intermediates can move when Palandöken’s steepness becomes too much.
The resort is not as crowded as Palandöken; a genuine option for anyone wanting to escape the weekend rush.
When to Go
Thanks to the high base the season is long. In March especially, when snow quality is dropping at other resorts, Konaklı can still offer good conditions — in that period it is worth comparing the measured snow depth above.
Things to Know Before You Go
Even the base is at 2,320 metres. For someone coming from sea level the first day can be more tiring than expected.
The two resorts share an operator; if conditions are bad at one they may be good at the other, which makes a trip to Erzurum safer.
The resort’s own accommodation options are not as extensive as Palandöken’s.
