Hello everyone! Nemrut sits on the volcanic Mount Nemrut in Bitlis — the mountain known for its crater lake. Its name is rarely heard on the skiing side, but its elevation stands out on this list.

The range we measured is 2,259–2,782 metres, a drop of 523 metres. The real number here is the base itself: 2,259 metres, making it the second-highest base among the 24 resorts we track. Only Konaklı (2,320 m) sits higher. For holding snow this is a serious advantage — the snow keeps lying here while it melts lower down.

Who It’s For

There is a single lift. So technically it is a small resort; you use its 523-metre drop on one line. Enough for beginners and intermediates, but it stays narrow for anyone looking for variety all day. Worth considering if you are around Bitlis-Tatvan or adding a day to a tour of Lake Van.

When to Go

Thanks to the high base the season can stretch from December to the end of March. January–February is the most stable period. The other side of the advantage the elevation brings is harsh weather: the same height brings wind and cold with it, so plan your clothing accordingly.

Can I see the crater lake in winter?

I cannot tell you that from here — the lake and the ski area are on the same mountain, but access to the crater area in winter depends on weather and road conditions. We have no verified information on this for the page.

Does the high elevation guarantee snow?

There is no guarantee, but the odds are good. The base being at 2,259 metres means the snow melts later than at lower-lying resorts. Even so, check the measured snow depth above before you go.

Where does the snow depth information here come from?

It is the value measured by the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) at its station in the resort. New snow, the temperature difference and the snowmaking window are calculated from a model and labelled separately in the table.
