Hello everyone! Bitlis Çiftkaya is a small ski resort close to the city centre. Writing this page I need to say one thing up front: I cannot give you the snow depth here as a measured value.
The range we measured is 1,532–1,741 metres, a drop of 209 metres. There is a single lift. In scale it is one of the small resorts on our list.
Why There Is No Snow Depth Here
This resort has no measuring station belonging to the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM). That is why the snow depth cell in the table above says “No measurement” — not because data failed to arrive, but because there is no station measuring it. I could have written a number here: estimated it from nearby stations, calculated it from a model, said “roughly this much”. I am not writing it. Because separating a measured value from a calculated one is the basic rule of this tool; once we start mixing the two, none of the numbers here mean anything. You can see values that come from a model — temperature, wind and the snowmaking window — and they are labelled. But snow depth is a matter of measurement, and there is nothing measuring it here.
Who It’s For
With a 209-metre drop and a single lift, this is not an all-day ski resort. It makes sense if you live in Bitlis or want to set aside a few hours while you are in the city. The scale suits beginners and families with children.
When to Go
The base is at 1,532 metres — not especially high, so holding snow depends on the season. January–February is the most reasonable period. Because there is no measuring station, getting confirmation from the resort’s own channels or from someone local before you go matters more here than at other resorts.
