Question 1

How long are a marathon, a half marathon and a 10K?

Accepted Answer

A marathon is 42.195 kilometres; a half marathon is half that, 21.1 kilometres. A 10K is ten kilometres and a 5K is five. Any distance longer than a marathon is called an ultra — the ultras on the calendar include 30-kilometre courses as well as ones over 100 kilometres.

Question 2

Which distance should I choose for my first race?

Accepted Answer

If you don’t run regularly, a 5K is a good place to start: you can be ready in a few weeks, and almost every calendar has one. If you already run two or three times a week, you can move up to a 10K. Give yourself a few months for a half marathon; a marathon is a season-long project. There’s no rush — the calendar is refreshed every month.

Question 3

What if a race isn’t on the calendar?

Accepted Answer

Write to us via the contact page; the race name, date and official link are all we need. We create the listing and add it to the calendar. Being listed is free.

Question 4

Does Advenway handle race entries?

Accepted Answer

No. Advenway doesn’t organise races and doesn’t take entries or payments. Every race page links to the organiser’s official registration page; entries, fees and refunds are all handled there. We bring the races together in one place and keep their dates and status up to date.
