Hello everyone! The most confused thing about Ilgaz is this: there is not a single ski resort here, there are two separate facilities 4 km apart on the same mountain. This page describes the resort known as Ilgaz-1, on the Kastamonu side.

The range we measured is 1,819–1,991 metres, a drop of 172 metres. Its neighbour Yurduntepe has a drop of 483 metres — so if you go to the same mountain and pick the wrong facility you may have a very different day from the one you expected. I believe we are the only site showing the two separately; most sources describe them as if they were a single resort.

Who It’s For

With a 172-metre drop, Ilgaz-1 suits learning and a day out for pleasure; it does not keep an advanced skier occupied for long. Being inside the Ilgaz Mountain National Park and the pine forest views add a value of their own.

An accessible option for those coming from Ankara and the Western Black Sea.

You can, but given the distance you need to set off early.

Where does the snow depth information here come from?

It is the value measured by the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) at its station in the resort. New snow, the temperature difference and the snowmaking window are calculated from a model and labelled separately in the table.
