Swimming season at Ayvalık Islands

This is a nature park made up of 22 islands, surrounded by dozens of dive sites. The area is known as the only place in Turkey where red coral (Corallium rubrum) can be seen — which makes it more than just an ordinary cove, but a distinctive underwater ecosystem of its own. A biodiversity study reportedly recorded hundreds of species here.

When to go Summer months (June-September); the sea water cools noticeably in winter, making off-season diving more challenging.
Who it suits Especially valuable for those interested in diving and nature observation; it appeals more to visitors willing to spend time exploring than to those just after an ordinary swim break.
