Turkey's only inhabited island in the Black Sea. Diving in the area begins at Kerpe Cove and continues along the Kefken and Kefken Island line; sources speak of some ten sites in all. Four of the named ones are recorded separately: Kerpe Cove, the Genoese Harbour Breakwater, Kartal Rocks and Kerpe Canyon. Because of Black Sea conditions, visibility and sea state vary greatly with the season.
Underwater cultural assets are covered by Turkish Law no. 2863. Diving at these sites is done only through authorized dive centers and in line with the published rules.
